I hold to The Midwives Model of Care which is based on the indisputable “fact” that pregnancy and birth are normal life processes.

“The Midwives Model of Care includes:

The application of this woman-centered model of care has been proven to reduce the incidence of birth injury, trauma, and cesarean section.

I personally love bringing a peaceful presence to a birth, which I have found allows mom the opportunity to be in control of her environment, and to birth in the way that she is most comfortable.  Birthing without fear is a wonderful possibility and can be accomplished through feeling safe, supported and having knowledge about the labor and birth process.  It is a privilege, and an honor, to be a part of the birthing experience and assisting women in taking control of what is supposed to be a highly spiritual and empowering natural process.

I am married and have two grown daughters which were born in hospitals with obstetricians.  Homebirth was not an option at the time.  Unfortunately, my experiences were rather typical for birthing in a hospital.  I experienced a cascade of interventions and felt that I was at the mercy of my care-givers.  I now have a total of 8 grandchildren (four of whom were born a home)! My children have had the opportunity to enjoy natural births.  My eldest daughter had cesarean births with her first 3 children, but has enjoyed natural “home” vaginal births with her last three (it is possible to have a natural vaginal birth after a cesarean).

If you are currently expecting, congratulations! If you would like to discuss your personalized options and take advantage of a free consultation in the privacy of your own home, please feel free to call me.  I look forward to meeting you!

Hello,

I would like to take the opportunity to introduce myself.  My name is Donna Z. Holmes, also known as Zee to my friends.  I love people and I love family!  I was a Homeschool mom for 17 years.  We lived in Colorado from 1992 through 2005, until our youngest daughter graduated.  In 2005, my husband and I moved to St. Croix, in the USVI where we joined YWAM (Youth With A Mission) for a DTS (Discipleship Training School).  My passionate desire to become a midwife began in 1997, but it was not until our DTS that I actually felt an urgency to attend school.  Thankfully, my husband was in total agreement and we moved to Gainesville, Florida where I attended the Florida School of Traditional Midwifery FSTM).

I now have the privilege of living in Meridian, Idaho.

I am an Idaho Licensed Midwife(LM), a Florida Licensed Midwife (LM), Colorado Registered Midwife (RM), and a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM). Since 1973, I have been actively involved in the medical field, but it wasn’t until 1997 that I became interested in becoming a natural, Homebirth Midwife. I became a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1973, and went to school to become an RN in 1983, and I graduated from Florida School of Traditional Midwifery in Gainesville, Florida in 2009 (http://www.midwiferyschool.org).  I have had the privilege of assisting approximately 200 women and their families in the birth of their babies. I became a Midwife because I believe birth is a normal process in which a midwife plays a special role without controlling birth to fit into a medical or preconceived model, but rather to empower a woman to make her own decisions for the birth and care of her baby.
